Sewing in colour

I thought I would show you a bit of what I’ve been up to with my new sewing machine!

011I raided my scrap bins to make these placemats. I used the “slab” method of piecing from Sunday Morning Quilts – one of my favourite project books.

013I quilted them with straight line quilting. I can’t begin to express how wonderful it is to have a sewing machine that will sew through a quilt top! My old machine would have eaten these for supper.

015Unfortunately, even the best sewing machine won’t magically make a mitered corner. I’m getting better, though…I can definitely tell the difference between the first placemat and the last one. πŸ™‚

And last but not least, I made 12 more blocks and sewed this “wonky hashtag” top together. It’s been a UFO for a couple of years now. Time to get it finished and on its way!

018Borders yes? Borders no?

001I’ll save the story of this quilt for another post. πŸ™‚

  1. Sunday morning quilts is one of my faves too, Nita. I vote for no borders. Love the look of your hash tags by themselves.:-)
