A is for April

April Showers

April is the month that the snow finally melts in the Yukon. It’s a chilly, muddy month. A month for the last of the cross country skiing before you get too far into the calendar. For jumping on the trampoline in your wool socks and hoodie, mud boots kicked off and lying to the side. A month where detritus melts out of snowbanks full of gravel, a winter’s worth of dog poop revealed in the yard, plastic bags blowing in the wind. April brings the first rain we’ve seen in 6 or 7 long months.  The rain that comes to take the away the snow, wash the winter from your soul.

I’m going to give the Blogging From A-Z in April challenge a shot. That’s one blog post per day April
(except Sundays). That’s 26 blog posts. One for each letter of the alphabet.  Wish me luck!

  1. What an apt description of April! Eww, dog poop. XD
And apparently I know very little about my own country, and had to look up to confirm that yes, Yukon is in fact part of Canada. X) But look what it said about that: “Whitehorse is the territorial capital and Yukon’s only city.” I knew Whitehorse was the capital, but the only city?!? That just seems ridiculous. I assume they mean that the other places are towns, and not big enough to be called a city?
Aaaanyway, great post! I’ve followed you on Bloglovin, and look forward to the rest of the alphabet! 😀

  2. When I scrapbooked I use to take a picture each day of April and capture our life with teenagers…that was nine years ago…so glad I have them and did it. Hmmmm maybe I’ll go check out the challenge….Get me happily through April and then May always goes fast for us teachers.
