Feeling stuck in revision?

If you’ve been rewriting the same chapter for months… if your characters feel flat or your scenes just aren’t clicking… it’s not because you’re a bad writer. It’s because revision is a whole different skill set.

One that’s hard to master on your own.

You want to write a novel that touches hearts. A story with real characters, deep feelings, and lasting meaning. But you’re spinning your wheels trying to figure out what it really needs.

That’s where I come in.

Revise your novel with clarity and confidence with Nita Collins Book Coach

Imagine this…

You sit down to revise and actually know what to do.
You feel excited about your story again.
You’ve got a clear plan, thoughtful feedback, and someone in your corner who understands how hard (and how beautiful) this process can be.

Sound good?
Let’s get you there!

Get the support you need to do your best work

Hi, I’m Nita.

I’m a writer, certified book coach, and developmental editor. I work with women in mid-life who are knee-deep in messy drafts and ready to shape them into novels with emotional depth, clarity, and resonance.

I’m here for you if:

  • You’re stuck in the weeds and can’t see the shape of your story
  • You want to bring more feeling to the page but don’t know how
  • You’re revising and feeling overwhelmed, unsure, or a little lost

I know what it’s like to wrestle with a story that matters to you—and not know how to fix it. I’ve been there. And that’s why I’m here now.

My approach is collaborative, kind, and craft-focused, and my goal is to help you feel confident, supported, and inspired to revise and finish a novel you’re proud to share with the world.

Ways We Can Work Together:

Revision Coaching

Turn your draft into a novel that WORKS. Together, we'll create a revision plan that lets you write forward with purpose and excitement instead of confusion or self-doubt. Learn how to revise using your own manuscript as the textbook.

On-going 1:1 Coaching

Regular deadlines to keep you accountable, with honest, supportive feedback on your pages to keep you learning, followed by a zoom call to answer questions, brainstorm fixes, celebrate wins, and keep you focused and motivated.

Clarity Calls

A focused, one-on-one zoom call to talk out plot problems, figure out story arcs, or just brainstorm. A coaching solution for those who like to "think out loud," and thrive better with a brainstorming partner than a deadline.

Developmental Editing

Get kind but honest feedback that points out what's working and what needs attention in your manuscript, and why, including suggested next steps. For those who want fresh eyes and feedback and prefer to take it from there on their own.

Hi Writer!

I’m a writer, too. I know how vulnerable and exhilarating the creative process is. I've felt (and still feel!) the same anxieties and writerly angst you're dealing with now, which is why I’m passionate about helping you build the skills, confidence, and momentum you need to bring your dream to life and write the best novel you can.

Nita gave me the tough love I needed in the gentlest of packages.

No question I had was too trivial or too difficult. A master listener, she stuck with me like a rock through a gamut of emotions until I fully understood her feedback. If you work with Nita, you’ll become a better writer.

The long, hard road to becoming a practicing book coach, part 1

Dear Vi, Around this time back in 2021, I completed a year-long training program, passed the three required practicums, and received my certification through Author Accelerator, under the founder, Jennie Nash. Getting my certification was hard. Sure, learning curves are always steep, and the course was (and still is!) comprehensive and very robust. But that’s…
