As a life-long learner, there will never come a ti As a life-long learner, there will never come a time where I will say I’ve learned all there is to learn. There will always be new things to discover and new ways to look at things. As a writer, there will always be new concepts to explore and challenging craft elements to practice. I’ll never stop experimenting — how will writing in a different tense will affect my character? How will writing in a different POV affect the flavour of my storytelling? As a life-long learner I will always seek out feedback and differing reader opinions, ask the advice of editors and coaches. In this world of so many burdens and responsibilities, sometimes the gift of keeping an open mind and actively seeking out new ways to understand and portray the world around me is the only true gift I can give myself. I always have several books on the go at the same I always have several books on the go at the same time, and I read each one for a different reason. One is light, easy-to-read novel for bedtime, another is a literary novel and takes more brain power so I read it during afternoon breaks. I’m curious to know …what are you reading right now? As I slowly work on improving my website and start As I slowly work on improving my website and starting my book coaching business, I’m feeling a lot of push-back from inside myself. Fact: it’s hard starting a new business. Fact: it’s hard figuring out exactly what to say and how to say it. Fact: it’s hard to take the leap of faith and say “I’m doing this”…and then do it. You know what? Starting up a book coaching business feels suspiciously like starting to write a new book. Go figure! Same push back. Same angst and frustration. Same dificulty figuring out how to say what’s on my mind. Same little devil sitting on my shoulder shouting “imposter” at me. But I’m doing it anyway. I’m doing it despite the fear and uncertainty. This is my last morning with cell service & data for a couple of days as we'll be on the Stuart Cassiar highway shortly after breakfast. Kinaskan Provincial Park tonight . Yukon border tomorrow night.
