My talented friend Fawn Fritzen & a new CD

Do you remember two years ago, when I introduced you to my singer/songwriter friend Fawn Fritzen?  Go to this post if you missed it. At that time, she was just getting ready to release her first album, Bedroom Voice.

She’s done some really fun things along the way, including making a very sweet music video that I adore. Obviously I love it because I adore her voice, but also because I’m in it! If you watch it, you’ll see Mr. C and I dancing on the banks of the Yukon River mid-way through. Mr. C has only danced in public with me on two occasions, and this was one of them. Here it is:

Well, time goes on and I’m very excited to let you know that Fawn is getting ready to release her second album, Pairings!

Right now Fawn is raising money to help her get the CD released. She’ll tell you all about it herself:

The album features some of the best Canadian jazz musicians today, including George Koller on bass, Reg Schwager on guitar, Karl Schwonik on drums, David Restivo on piano, Kelly Jefferson on tenor sax, and more…

Would you like to be part of Fawn’s new album release? Go to gofundme.com/fawnfritzen. She’s got incentives!

And if you go to her webpage and sign up to receive her newsletter, you get a free song download!

I have some very talented friends!

The Christmas songs you love to hate

A thread I’ve been following on Facebook prompts me to write this post. You may not thank me, but I humbly offer up what I consider to be the worst Christmas song ever.

EVER.

It is about a cat that freezes to death on Christmas eve saving the life of a mouse. And Santa arrives too late. Do you believe it? It makes me cry and I hate that because it is such a stupid song.

So tell me…what tops your list for worst Christmas song ever? I’ll make a post dedicated to them.

Rockin’ the Casbah Finale (finally!)

One by one, I’m finally getting all of the show cuts up here for your viewing pleasure. 🙂

Visiting this show has really made me miss my troupe. This was one butt-kicking dance troupe, let me tell ya! Talk about a talented, fun group of gals. I sure wish they could have stayed together. Anyway, here is the finale to our best show ever – Rockin’ the Casbah. I choreographed the finale to  New York New York, live by The Big Band. Well, the show was a fusion of Big Band and Bellydance, after all! What better way to end it?  Enjoy!

A bit of Fawn on a Friday

Here it is Sunday and I’ve been wanting to write about Friday since…well, since Friday!

Friday was a great day. I woke up feeling really good. I puttered around the house at my leisure, did a bit of housework, drank some tea, yada yada yada. Then I packed myself a lunch, grabbed my camera and went down to Lepage Park to see my dear friend Fawn Fritzen sing the noon-hour show with her band, the Swing Street Band.

I had to go because Fawn is my favourite singer, and this was 100% her gig… Star of the show…Title act…dynamite and classy all the way…and… wearing… my dress! Yup! That’s my ladybug dress she has on! See?

And added bonus… my Big Band friends Colleen McCarthy on trombone & Leith Hill on alto sax also play in Fawn’s Swing Street Band!

I was bopping around in my seat enjoying the afternoon and the music, seeing lots of people I know in the audience.

Did I mention how much I love listening to Fawn sing?

Here’s a little taste of Friday’s Arts in the Park. Enjoy!
